Our story, since 1985

In 1985 Dr. John Thompson left Baylor with his dental degree and started caring for Corpus Christi. Forty years on, a visit still works the same way: no hard sell, a joke in the chair, and your family welcome in the treatment room.

We take the time to get to know you and your goals, then build a plan around your budget and schedule. That is why so many of our patients have been with us for years.

Dr. John T. Thompson, DDS

A BA in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, then dentistry at the Baylor College of Dentistry, class of 1985. He works as a partner with his patients, and every year he and the team complete hours of continuing education to keep up with the field.

Dr. Thompson has invested in the equipment that makes treatment more precise and more comfortable, and dental implants are placed and restored in-house rather than sent elsewhere.

  • CBCT scannerCone beam 3-D imaging of the teeth, jawbone and nerves. It shows whether the bone can support an implant and guides placement at the correct location, angle and depth. Scans usually take under a minute.

We offer same-day care for dental emergencies whenever possible, and we welcome new patients of all ages, from Corpus Christi and from Sinton, Robstown and beyond.

Insurance

Dee, our insurance coordinator, handles insurance for our patients along with the business and financial side of the office. Many plans cover part of the cost of care, including the emergency exam.

Financing

For patients without insurance or who need extensive care, we work with CareCredit and Sunbit. It takes a few minutes to qualify, and several plans carry little or no interest.

Common questions

What people ask before they book.

Do you see dental emergencies?

Yes. We offer same-day care during dental emergencies whenever possible. Call the office right away: over the phone we will give you first-aid instructions to manage things until you arrive, then Dr. Thompson will examine you, take x-rays as needed and plan the treatment.

Can I bring my kids?

Please do. Our team has years of training and experience caring for the youngest patients, and we are happy to see every member of your family on the same day, so nobody has to take several days off to keep the family smiling.

I get nervous at the dentist. How can you help?

Tell us when you call. Visits here are meant to be stress and judgment free, and we offer nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas. It is breathed in through the nose, the dose can be adjusted at any time, and it wears off quickly so you can go straight back to your day.

Do you place dental implants yourselves?

Yes. We place and restore dental implants in-house. A CBCT scan shows whether your jawbone can support an implant and lets Dr. Thompson place it at the correct location, angle and depth. The scan itself usually takes less than a minute.

Does teeth whitening work?

Store-bought products cannot deliver what they promise, but professional whitening can brighten a smile up to ten shades. In-office whitening takes around an hour; take-home trays let you whiten at your own pace.

How do I pay if I do not have insurance?

We work with CareCredit and Sunbit, which let you split treatment into smaller monthly payments, several with little or no interest. It only takes a few minutes to qualify. Dee, our insurance coordinator, looks after the financial side of the office.

How often should I come in?

Twice a year. According to the American Dental Association, a visit every six months is the best way to keep your mouth healthy, and it lets us find problems while they are still small.
